5-17-2017 The Blue Ridge Parkway & Great Smokey Mtns

As we prepared to leave Hendersonville NC for the Blue Ridge Pkwy, we loaded the trike and as usual I went to crank her up, let her warm up a few minutes before hitting the road. But, I only got a groan when I hit the starter button. The voltmeter only showed 9.7 volts... crap. But, the AMA roadside assistance came thru, again.

I called them up, told the lady I just needed a jump, I had cables & all ready. She said they don't do jump starts, only fuel delivery & towing... so why don't I ask for a tow truck? Thanks for the help, ma'am.. I need a tow truck. 45 minutes later, he showed up, we jump started the trike. The driver was happy with the tow money for not much of nothing, and I headed for O'Reilly's to get a new battery. Turns out my old three year warranty battery was 5 years old, so I replaced it with a new AGM battery for $109 after my military discount.

.... On the road again... sang Willy

We climbed aboard the Blue Ridge Pkwy (one of my favorite rides) at Asheville

Riding & taking a few pictures

And of course, if you have a female with you, ya gotta stop at the store for the restrooms.

We left the Pkwy for the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. A very nice Visitor Center and staff.  We met a couple in the parking lot, and very quickly our little bit of time was gone. No time for pics... find a motel.

We're going to meet some friends from Houston tomorrow, and tour the Howling Moon Distillery in Asheville, so we have a room near there.

Late start because of starting battery, our mileage is low, 188 miles on the day.
