5-16-2017 South Carolina & North Carolina

We left Commerce GA to head for a little known burg in South Carolina, called Ninety Six.  A nice short ride down two lane roads. There we toured the Ninety Six National Historic Site. There was a fort here, where the first battle, in the south, of the Revolutionary War was fought.

...And the Visitor Center was CLOSED. No Ranger to tell the history, so we had to just read some of the erected signs, and tour some of the old relics.

No trike in the NPS sign photo, a fence & steep roadside ditch prevented it.

Left on our own, I did find the Park stamp outside in a box, so I did stamp my Passport, but couldn't get a pin. We spied an old log cabin, so we walked over & got pics of it, and other period specific pieces.

Below is an old oven..  women folk have it o easy, today.  :-)

Uh, Lanora tried to talk me into letting her lock me into the stocks for a picture... nope, didn't happen.

From Ninety Six SC, we headed on into North Carolina and the home of Carl Sandburg, now a National Historic Site. A pretty place, but low on signage. However, the Visitor Center was open, and we rode the shuttle up a good hill to the house, where I got the stamp & a pin.

Since we lost some time today tooling around Greenville, SC looking for an Apple store to replace my laptop charger I'd left in Florida, we decided to stop at the first convenient place, Hendersonville NC where we'll rest for the night.

Low miles today, 226
